The Toyota RAV4 continues to be one of the most popular and best-selling SUVs on the market. The compact SUV arrived as a completely redesigned model in 2019, so it’s about time the RAV4 received a refresh.
Rumors suggest that the RAV4 could arrive with a refresh in 2024, though nothing has been confirmed yet.
The current RAV4 features a rugged and aggressive design. Refreshments that might make the SUV move to share a similar design to the Sequoia. The RAV4 will adopt a larger grille, new headlights, and a more square design.
We can see the RAV4 getting new taillights and a new liftgate design. The current SUV features prominent body lines, a split front-end design with thin air intakes that sit above a large grille, and rear-swept headlights. The rear of the RAV4 features dual exhaust outlets, a small rear spoiler, and rectangular taillights connected by trim pieces.
The current RAV4’s interior design features a simple look that emphasizes usability. The tiered dashboard places the central touchscreen close to the driver, while the center console features large controls for the HVAC system.
Toyota placed the vehicle controls next to the gear shifter for ease of use. The refresh could see the RAV4 get an updated dashboard design and a revised center console, though the overall design should remain the same.

The Toyota RAV4 offers three powertrain options: a 2.5-liter four-cylinder (203 horsepower), a hybrid (219 horsepower), and a plug-in hybrid with the RAV4 Prime (308 horsepower). Both the RAV4 Hybrid and RAV4 Prime pair a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors.
The RAV4 Prime is the best-performing model from the RAV4 lineup. Along with top powertrain output, it provides sports car-like acceleration with a 0-60 mph time of 5.5 seconds.
In comparison, the gas-powered RAV4 has a 0-60 mph time of 7.8 seconds, while the RAV4 Hybrid completes the sprint in 7.5 seconds. Additionally, the RAV4 Prime can drive on electric power alone for an estimated range of 42 miles.
RAV4 buyers have a choice between a front-wheel drive system or a traction-boosting all-wheel drive system. For efficiency, the gas-powered RAV4 has an estimated fuel economy of up to 30 mpg combined, while the RAV4 Hybrid has a fuel mileage of up to 40 mpg combined.
The RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid has a combined fuel efficiency of 94 MPGe when in electric-only mode and 38 mpg combined in hybrid mode. Additionally, the RAV4 has a towing capacity of up to 3,500 pounds.

Toyota has yet to confirm when the 2024 RAV4 will come out. The updated 2024 Toyota RAV4 can cost more than the current SUV ranging from $28,910 to $46,795 for a loaded RAV4 Prime.
