2023 Toyota Tacoma Redesign and specs: New engine options
The engines available to the buyers of the 2022 Tacoma, which are the base 2.7-liter four-cylinder and the available 3.5-liter V6 — represent the main flaws of this mid-sized truck. Particularly the V-6 of the 2022 Tacoma has lower power than its rivals with the V-6.
Toyota is likely to fix this flaw in the 2020’s Tacoma. Car and Driver indicated that the 2023 Tacoma might come with a turbocharged engine like the 2.4-liter version of the Lexus NX350, which generates 317 Lb-ft of torque. Like the newly designed 2022 Tundra, the 2023 Tacoma might come with a more robust hybrid version of the V6 engine. Toyota will likely release an electric variant of the Tacoma as well, but this is expected to be delayed until at least the model’s 24th year.
As with the 2022 Tacoma and the 2022 Tacoma, the 2023 Tacoma will also feature a body-on-frame construction. The mid-sized truck may eliminate the leaf-spring suspension and be replaced with a coil-spring rest, providing more excellent handling and a more comfortable ride.
The 2023 Tacoma is expected to come with an improved version of its automatic transmission, one of the 2022 Tacoma’s weaknesses. Additionally, Tacoma is the only midsize truck that offers a manual transmission. Tacoma has the sole mid-sized truck with a manual transmission. Because of the popularity of manuals among Tacoma lovers, Tacoma is likely to have a manual available for 2023.
